Looking at the way models on magazines are spread throughout young people, I chose to argue with the way they seem to make people feel everyday. The use of underweight models, photoshopped to perfection allows young girls to feel less superior, in time, tearing down their self confidence and body positivity.
Due to this, I chose to photograph a healthy woman, in positions that would not generally be used in magazines to teach young girls that it is normal to have a figure larger than a UK size 4. I believe that in todays society, the use of underweight models is changing slowly, but not quick enough. Each clothing shop we enter, uses manikins that seem to have the body of a Barbie doll-this is unacceptable in my eyes.
If this series changes young girls minds slightly, I will feel a sense of accomplishment.
