In today’s digital era, Social Media consumes our day to day life. People chose to live through online personas only showing the best of the best rather than their low points or mundane activity. Through looking at ‘The Real’ I chose to capture peoples ‘true’ moment with a Medium Format Camera in a studio setting and use digital manipulation to show the contrast between online and real life.
Along the way, people could argue that placing a model in a studio completely wipes away the real. But, in my defence, I did not tell my models till ten minutes before the shoot that they were going to be photographed. Showing them in everyday clothes, make-up and moods.
To complete this series, I manipulated the developed image, allowing a bigger sense of Post-photography to shine through. Showing people really how easy it is to visually manipulate images to create a completely different photograph.
